As early as in 1940, Chen's ancestors already set up New Toung Mei Corporation - a business in Taipei, Taiwan, and began to focus on food trends. In the 1980s, Hongmao Trading Company inherited the "old shop" of Dihua Street that had survived and renewed itself through multiple generations. In 1995, the company was transformed from a distributor to a “Songzhen Biotech Co., Ltd.”, which included both manufacturing and sales. It specialized in the production of its own vegetarian products. In 2003, the business was again expanded with the establishment of Songzhen Biotech Co., Ltd. in Linkou, Taiwan; In 2010, Songzhen Group invested heavily in establishing a new factory in Suzhou, China, and established David Chang Bio-technology (Suzhou) Co., Ltd.
